Lichen Rock and Oak - 03-15-09
April 15 - 2009
I took a few days off and did whatever I do that keeps the lights on :) started the spring semester of photo classes , did a quick tabletop setup and got out and took some hills pictures.
This is hot off the press, shot on April 14th, and is an interesting picture where I am pushing the limits of the ultimate depth of field in vertoramas. Here I had two laters of images one that was focused on the rock and the other on the grassy hillside behind it.
I knew from experience that even at f22 I was not going to get the rock and the grass sharp as it was too much of a depth of field pull. As the wind was really brisk, 30-40 mph gusts, I traded some apeture for shutter speed so I was at f16 at a 30th with a 15mm lens.
To get around this DOF issue I did the two exposures at different focus distances and then manually stripped them together to get everything in focus at the same time.
The perspective is interesting in this image as at the bottom of the frame the camera is pointed straight down at the ground.
This is a 52 megapixel image made from a number of frames of Nikon D200 data.

Prints do not include colored surround.
The desktop art dated 2010 and 2011 very strongly resembles a float mounted print hanging on a colored wall.
