The mighty Mattole river comes down to the sea and in a rush crosses these beds of black river rock before it hits the oceans waves.
The light was very angular and as a result the waves are beautifully trans-illuminated with spray being blown off of the tops.
The river has a sine shaped water current that is just exactly hit by the sun creating a repeating pattern of foam in the rivers mouth.
The tide was coming in and eventually I had to flee this camera position.
