Mono Lake - Lee Vining - California
This was a totally still day which is fairly rare...
The highway here sports high wind warning signs for a reason.
The water was dotted with alkaline flies and seagulls. The gulls eat the flies and brine shrimp which grow in the lake.
I enjoy the disparate white balances in this picture, the blue of the shadows versus the warmth of the setting sun. The reflection provides a nice ground of positive-negative space imaging for the tufa rocks in the foreground.
This is a 52 megapixel image made from a number of frames of Canon 5D Mark II data.
