• Pinnacles High Peaks Trail


Here is a view of the rock formations that give the Pinnacles its name. This is a volcanic formation in an area of otherwise smooth rolling hills. I took this April 18th 2009, just a few days ago...

If you look at the trees in this image you will get a sense of the scale of the rocks. This is a real hot place for rock climbers as the rock is pretty stable because it is not exposed to the freezing and thawing cycles that cause exfoliation.

It is usually quite hot here but it is tolerable in the early season, on this day in april it was in the 80's and we were definitely feeling it!!!
