Death Valley Dunes

I made it to the dunes at sunset for a few hours of photography and eating windblown sand.

The light was already excellent so we double-timed into the dunes and started taking pictures.

Photography was a difficult process because there was a stiff wind which was lofting the sand into the air. It seemed like most of it was going in my face and hair. The sand that didn't get on me went into every pocket and compartment of my camera pack.

The patterns and shapes created by the sand and light were abundant and I got several very nice high resolution photographs. This was one of those cases where it would be hard not to come away with a beautiful image.

This is a 61 megapixel image made from a number of frames of data shot with the Canon 5D Mark II.
