North Peak Sunrise

This was a totally windswept morning where I was wishing for a stocking cap because my brimmed hats would not stay on properly.

Between each set of gusts would be a still period where the the wind would come around to a totally different direction.

I found this incredible bunch of red paintbrush growing by a occasional watercourse and it was all good!

I got in a sequence of exposures while the wind was still.

I shoot at 1/10-1/15th at f22 with a P1 at ISO 100. Because of the low shutter speed I try to be careful that the camera does not get buffeted by the wind. In this case the wind stopped and was calm for a few seconds.

This is a 40 megapixel image made from a number of frames of Canon 5D Mark II data.
