California High Sierra

I have spent some time floating around in the sierra with both film and digital cameras. This gallery has some of the results that are normal rectangles.

Currently I have given only a single purchase option, if you are interested in another size give me a call at 510-742-0548 and I will be happy to help :)

Looking Down from Dade Peak Approach

The first time I came to Little Lakes Valley we climbed all the way up to the Treasure Lakes at the base of Mt Dade.

The view looking down into the Little Lakes Valley was just wonderful!

The partial clouds gave the scene a good sense of depth while the color of the meadow and the lake served to define them as the center of interest.

I have altered this photograph to give it a more painterly quality and it was tremendously successful.

This photograph was taken on Kodak VPS 160 film with a 127mm lens using a Mamiya RB67 camera.

This master was processed with Corel Painter to give it a painterly feeling.

Offered is a limited edition 24x31 gallery deep wrapped print on canvas for $350.00.

Solitary Tree

High above Yosemite Valley is the Yosemite high country and Tuolumne, a land of exfoliating granite domes, fragrant meadows and high mountain lakes.

Walking across the domes in the fog I came to this tree standing by itself surrounded by soft yellow grasses and lichen encrusted granite.

Inclement weather and rapidly changing conditions are an integral part of the high country experience. In this case the atmospheric effect of the clouds served to separate this tree from its companions.

This photograph was taken on Kodak 4x5 Super-XX with a 135mm Schneider lens using a Graphic View II camera.

Blades of Grass

A tuft of meadow grass sparkles in the light of early morning by by a stream in the Rock Creek wilderness.

The lyrical quality of grass has always fascinated me, it is something we spend our lives walking on mowing or by and large ignoring.

I have always found the delicately curving blades, rich green color and subtle translucent textures to be something very special.

This photograph was taken on Kodak VPS 160 film with a 127mm lens using a Mamiya RB67 camera.

Twilight Meadow

Sometime in the 80's I was wandering around between Thousand Island Lake and Lake Ediza and I came through this wonderful meadow.

At that point I was carrying a large metal camera which shot 6x7cm negatives, needless to say I used Kodak film...

I have had this hanging in my room for several years and it is a delightful splash of sunny yellow.

This master was processed with Corel Painter to give it a painterly feeling.

There are some 25x31 canvas gallery wrapped prints of this on sale in my in-stock collection :)
