California High Sierra

I have spent some time floating around in the sierra with both film and digital cameras. This gallery has some of the results that are normal rectangles.

Currently I have given only a single purchase option, if you are interested in another size give me a call at 510-742-0548 and I will be happy to help :)

Lowering Storm Over North Peak

This was a wild staart to a 10 day trip. This storm came down hard and fast with 50 mph winds and pea sized hail. We pretty much hid in the tent for 2 days while it blew itself out.

After that it was wonderful but we thought it would never stop, especially at night. /flap /flap /flap!

Lake Tenaya

I brought the S3 photowalkers here for this stupendious cloud day. It simply does not get to be better conditions then this!

After I took this a lady started wading in the lake and about 30-40 feet out ended up in about 3" of water. She knew the hump was there and her brother was ready to catch the spectacle for posterity. For all the world it looked like she was walking on water...

Other then us they were the only people there which is very unusual. The stone beach area can be covered with people on lawnchairs and pad listening to their boom boxes.

I like it better when its quiet :)

MInarets Lake

This year we had camped right below the lake where we found a nice sheltered campsite that was away from a watercourse but not too far away...

Each morning we would eat at dawn and hustle up the last half mile to the top for the sunrise. This was part of the way around the lake heading for the unmapped approach to the ridge above Iceberg Lake to the north. I have not had a great yearning to go over that ridge as it is over 11,000 feet.

This is a 25 megapixel image made from a number of frames of Nikon D200 data.

Mono Lake Glass

This was a beautiful still day at Mono Lake.

I came to the shore as the shadow of the mountains was cutting across the tufas and creating a very dramatic light.

The lake surface is covered in small alkalai flies which provide a rich food source for the birds that frequent the lakes shores...
